1. a fork or something resembling a fork.
2. a small fold of membrane just inside the rear part of the vulva.
3. the wishbone of a bird.
4. the frog of the hoof of a horse, donkey, or the like.
5. a forked piece of material on a glove, joining the front and back parts of the finger: »

The glove…has a chamois palm and a terry-cloth back, and the fourchettes—those little panels along the sides of the fingers—are of stretch nylon (New Yorker).

6. a combination in one hand of a playing card and the next higher or lower one; tenace.
